I'm a Mommy!

Okay, I know, I've been a mom now for almost 7 weeks and I'm just now updating.. I'll keep this part short.

Jeslynn Brea was born November 18th at 5:56am. She was 7lbs 6.1oz and 20.5 inches long. She is completely healthy and the only problems we've had so far are latching/nursing issues which were resolved around 3 weeks old, and a bit of gassiness that she is finally starting to outgrow. She looks like her daddy and already has him wrapped around her little finger. She held her head up the day she was born, rolled over on the second day, and started holding her own weight on her legs around 4 1/2 weeks. I think she'll be crawling pretty early. She has two aunts, several grandparents and great grandparents and a mommy and daddy who are just completely in awe of how amazing she is. But, as the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words, so here are about 20,000 words worth to keep you satisfied for a little while.

Okay, enough with the Mommy Paparazzi. Hopefully I'll find time to update more soon. I think I'll be at mom's more now, so I should be able to use the computer more often. I hope everyone is doing well. God Bless and BOOMER SOONER!!!

Well, not much to update really... I had my dr's appointment last Friday. I am now a whole 2 cm dialated and still 50% effaced. Not a lot of change, but better than nothing I guess. I told Eric that at this rate I feel like I'll still be pregnant at Christmas! lol Umm... Friday was also my last day of work, so I am now using my time to get my nest ready for my new little birdie. I spent all day yesterday getting caught up on laundry and cleaning. Today I plan on tackling the nursery and finding a place to put everything. Ummm.. really, I don't have a lot to say, so I guess this will be a super short entry. Just keep me and my family (Eric, baby Jeslynn, Sheri, Brook, Mom) in your prayers. We're all about to have a huge change in our lives, some more than others, but we all need to know we can handle it. I'll update you guys if I get any more news or if Jeslynn finally decides to show up. My dr's been saying for over two weeks "any day now", and here I am only 8 days from my due date! So she'll for sure be here in two weeks, 'cause my dr will induce before I go more than a week past my due date. We don't want an enormous baby! lol Well, I hope everyone's having a marvelous day. Lots of love!

God Bless and BOOMER SOONER!!!

Well, not a lot has gone on with me lately. Thursday night we had our Thanksgiving dinner since my uncle was in town from Nashville. It was great to get everyone together and just catch up, although it was wierd since usually Thanksgiving is an all day event and this was just dinner. Everyone is doing great, Brook and Sheri were in town, which was awesome since I felt like I hadn't seen them in forever. Java is doing great, recovering really quickly, and the vet even talked about taking the splint off of her leg this week! She will be such a happy pup! Mom has a new surprise, but I can't reveal it since some members of the family don't know yet. You should call her and bug her til she tells you! Just ask about the new black thing at her house. Here is what went on with me in the last two weeks.

Friday, October 27th I had an appointment. She checked me because I had some strong contractions for over an hour on Wednesday that eventually died out, and I was 50% and at least 1cm. So that was great news. Did the Group B Strep test, results would be in at my next appointment. The following week was pretty uneventful, then I had another appointment last Friday, November 3rd. Here's what happened...

I went in to my appointment at 9:30. I was actually a bit early, so they got me in around 9:15. I sat in the little room until after 10.. I think my dr was at the hospital with a woman in labor. So anyway, after she walked in, the first thing she did was measure my tummy, then she went straight to the doplar. At first everything sounded fine. The heartbeat was a bit faster than usual, but level. Then all of a sudden it started racing, my guess would be in the 170-180bpm range. Then it dropped down to what sounded lower than an adult heartbeat. I looked at my dr and she had a worried look on her face. I said "That sounds really slow.." And she said, "Yeah, it does." So she sent me over to the hospital (which is luckily only a block away, so I didn't have to drive very far.. I was a mess!) and I headed up to Labor & Delivery. They hooked me up to the monitor in the nonstress test room, and left. My dr said they would monitor me for about 20 minutes. Well, the hb ended up being super erratic, at one point it topped 200 bpm and there were gaps in the printout, like the heart was stopping all together, and then the hb would bottom out around 60 bpm. I was bawling just sitting there watching the screen. They had me documenting her movements, which were very regular, as usual. I was hooked up to the machine for over an hour before her hb started to level out in the 150's. After about 10 minutes of that range, they said "Okay, you can go now." I'm thinking, what the crap? They didn't tell me what was going on or why it was doing that. They just said to go home, rest, monitor movements, no caffiene, excessive sugars, or stimulants. I asked if I needed to go back over to my dr's office (we hadn't finished my appointment) and they said "No, we've already talked to your dr." So home I went. I don't think I got off of the couch except to go to the bathroom and refill my water pitcher (lol, the one they gave me during my monitoring, it's huge!) all day Friday.

Well, now I'm freaked out about everything I do and how it affects Jeslynn's hb, so we decided since it is a full moon on Sunday, we are going to get things rolling.

Saturday Eric and I got up and went to breakfast, and spent the day shopping for last minute baby stuff. We eneded up walking for over 6 hours Saturday. Still no labor.

Sunday we got up and went to church, watched Eric's little 4 year old cousin Josie get baptised, had a huge lunch at Charlie's house. Still no labor. Ran a few more errands, went home and watched a movie, did some stuff around the house, and went to bed around 10. Well, I started getting some contractions, but very light and not nearly as painful as last week's, so I was pretty sure it wasn't going to progress. We went to sleep, woke up, no labor.

So here I am today. Somewhat achy abdomen, not really crampy, just uncomfortable. My boss is predicting tonight at 9pm to be the magic time, but we'll see. I told Eric that at one point last week, I could have put money on having her in the next week, now I feel like it could be another 6. My dr didn't check me on Friday, and I had lots of ?'s still, so I just called her. I asked about the hb and what was going on. She said she spoke with a perinatologist and showed him the printout of the hb. The Dr said that they had had several women who's babies' hbs have done that lately, and they have no clue why it's happening. All he could say was that all the babies were born healthy and had no heart problems after birth. So that is positive. As far as limitations, still just the caffiene and sugars. I'm still supposed to monitor her movement, but she is such an active little booger, it's more like I'm monitoring her nap times. lol And my GBS test came back negative, so I don't have to worry about getting antibiotics when I go into labor. So that was great news. I'm still super paranoid about everything I do and how it could be affecting the baby's hb, but she said that if I had any problems or concerns that made me really nervous this week before my appointment, to call her and she would see me right away. I'm so glad that I have such a great ob.

So now I'm just waiting to see if she's ever going to come out. I know it's still 2 weeks 'til my due date, but I'm so anxious and ready to hold her. Plus I don't want to worry constantly about what I'm doing and how it's affecting her.

Okay, so that's all I really have for now. Brook, you should be proud, that's one of the longer posts I've made in a while! Have a great day! God Bless and BOOMER SOONER!!!

Oh, and here are some of the maternity pics Eric and I had done a couple weeks ago.

Well, just a short entry because I'm exhausted and completely out of it.

No baby yet, but I went to the dr on Friday and she said it could be three more weeks, or it could be any day now. She checked me and I'm 50% effaced and 1 cm dialated, which is great. If you don't know what that is, ask a woman who has had a baby before and who wouldn't be offended by you asking her a very personal question. lol

Okay, really, that's all I have for now. Have a great day! God Bless and BOOMER SOONER!!!

Okay, I've been gone on vacation for the last week, so here is a brief rundown of what all has been going on..

Eric and I left Tuesday for the cabin at Salt Plains with another couple who we are great friends with, Tim and Amber. From Tuesday through Friday we pretty much just took it easy. We hung out at the cabin, cooked over a huge campfire, okay, bonfire, lol. The boys did some fishing and ended up catching a pelican! Shocked Haha, you should have seen them trying to reel that thing in! And of course, both the other girl and myself forgot our cameras. lol On Thursday we drove up to Alabaster Caverns and took a tour through them. We called beforehand to see if that was okay. Tim said "We have a woman with us who is 8 months pregnant..." I felt like a hitchhiker they picked up on the way there! lol The guy said that pregnant women went through all the time and it didn't get very deep, but that there were 350 steps going through it and it took about an hour.. Shocked Well, the boys wanted to go, so we went. It really wasn't that bad, I had a great time, but boy was I worn out!

Friday afternoon we got home and I found out that while we were gone (we didn't have cell phone reception where we were..) my mom had put our dogs in the backyard for a couple hours on Wednesday and when she went to my house to put them back inside, our little brown dog, Java, was missing. She finally found her under a bush in our neighbor's backyard. She had been hit by a car. She took her to the vet and found out that she has broken bones in her left foot and ankle, and her right foot is completely mutilated. She will most likely lose toes on that foot. She also has a bad gash on the inside of her right leg. Luckily though, the car didn't hit her back or pelvis, so she doesn't have any life threatening injuries. She has both of her back legs in splints and wrapped in gauze, which she has lately been wanting to chew off, so she had to come to work with me today and yesterday so I could watch her and keep her from chewing her bandages off.

So Eric and I decided to stay home the rest of the weekend to take care of her instead of going on to the lake like we had planned. We did a lot of stuff around the house to continue getting ready for Jeslynn to get here.

I'm starting to get really uncomfortable. I told Eric last night, while crying mind you, that I really didn't want to be pregnant anymore. He said "That's the saddest thing I've ever heard you say.." I felt bad for feeling that way, but I'm just so worn out. I'm telling you, it's like Chinese Water Torture. It's not that any one thing is so terrible, it's just constant. You can't take a 5 minute break from being pregnant, which is sometimes all you want/need. The thing that got to me last night was that she had the hiccups for an hour straight! I just wanted to scream at my belly for them to stop, but I couldn't do anything to make the thumping stop. Every 4-5 seconds, Thump, Thump, Thump. And I was also getting some pretty strong and painful contractions, but they weren't regular or timeable, so it's just like a big tease. I'm so ready for the moment when I can say "Take me to the hospital, I'm having this baby today!" I hope she comes early like I think she will, or I just may lose my mind.

Monday we went and had our maternity pictures taken. They turned out great and I can't wait to get them back. I got a disk with them, so I will be able to post them. After we finished Eric leaned down to my belly and said, "Okay, you can come out now!" lol I'll post some of them here... Along with some pics of Java and her wounds.

And some of the maternity pics we had done. The one of our hands on my belly in black and white with the pink bow is my favorite. It took me forever to do that. No, really, I did it in my Windows Paint program, and it took me about an hour before I got it just the way I wanted it.

And then today's belly pics and my progression shot:

So there you have it kids. My update for today, and probably for the week. I have another dr appointment on Friday, and then I'll be going once a week until Jeslynn gets here. I hope you all have a wonderful time until I talk to you again! God Bless and BOOMER SOONER!!!
